Our story

Oyster exists because hiring managers kept being handed the same thing: a long list of CVs, sorted by keyword, with nobody's name attached to the judgement behind it. The list looked like work. It was not.

So we built the opposite. A small register of roles, each one owned by a single recruiter who takes the brief, screens against it, and submits only the people they would hire themselves. If we cannot fill a role well, we say so and hand it back rather than filling it with the closest available person.

We are open about how we screen. Before an application moves forward we confirm eligibility directly with the candidate — that they are authorized to work in the United States, and that they meet any minimum age the role or its insurer carries. That conversation is had with the person, not about them, and it happens before their name goes to a hiring team.

We are a manager-managed limited liability company registered in Kentucky, we work across six role families, and we answer our own phone.
